This extensive new-build health club, spa and 48-bedroom lodge was envisaged as ‘a unique members’ club for culture, business, sport and wellbeing’, and is located in a leafy residential city square in Hamburg, formerly occupied by the historic Klipper hockey club.
The 7000m2, €26M building is set in extensive landscaping, which includes an all-weather hockey pitch, six tennis courts and a large spa garden with a variety of external heat cabins and pools.
Sparcstudio were appointed to provide an interior design concept for the building, having worked previously for Aspria on projects such as the Royal La Rasante club in Brussels, Our brief was to achieve the levels of comfort & style that you would expect in a traditional English members’ club, but with all of the facilities of a modern-day destination Spa & Fitness Club.
The style is established in the reception area, with paneled desks and walls, coffered ceilings with chandeliers and traditional leather chesterfield sofas. This language is also reflected in the first floor restaurant and lounges, where marble topped tables, framed mirrors and domestic style low level lighting help to create a comfortable, clubby yet domestic feel.
The wellness gym has a more stripped back, industrial style, yet with softer elements such an upholstered panelling and metallic finish chesterfield sofas, Design ideas established here have since been rolled out across the Aspria estate.
The 803sqm spa is extensive and luxurious, offering members five swimming pools, five saunas and a menu of 30 spa treatments. There is also a hammam, an Aufguss sauna and a 20-bed relaxation area overlooking the 400sqm of spa gardens with heat cabins and pools.
I’m completely confident that our members will love the club’s wellness and spa facilities, thanks to the highest standards of service, the huge variety of spa treatments and the luxurious environment.
