Sparcstudio | The Grain Store, Calcot Manor

The Grain Store, Calcot Manor

The Calot & Spa ‘Grain Store’ gym & fitness facility, located in the Calot Manor Hotel Grounds, is a £5 million pounds ‘sanctuary for Ultimate Wellbeing’.

Originally an old agricultural barn, the Grain Store has been thoughtfully converted into a 280sqm sanctuary with state-of-the-art facilities. It has been designed to embody a ‘green/natural’ feel, aligning with the environmental credentials of the building and embracing the surrounding environment wherever possible. By doing so, it provides members and guests the opportunity to elevate their wellbeing in a contemporary setting that is immersed in the Cotswold Countryside.

Upon entering the new Grain Store reception and café/club lounge, guests are greeted with a cozy and informal ambiance. Cotswold stone walls are lined with low banquettes, an eclectic mx of furniture and lots of planting. The lounge opens out on to a beautiful terrace with woodburning fire.

Sparcstudio designed the ‘state of the art’ gym as a series of zones defined by rustic timber and chicken wire screens. The gym is furnished throughout with Techno Gym Equipment, offering areas such as a Functional zone with a Sled track and Exigo Rig, Cardio, Free weights & Resistance zones, all with picturesque countryside views. Generous stretch areas have been incorporated along with a UK’s first ‘Proverb’ Assisted stretch pod. The convivial atmosphere is further enhanced by the inclusion of a sofa lined consultation area and hospitality counter incorporating, chilled water point & sweat towels.

Located on the first floor are luxury changing rooms designed in a distinctive rustic style with feature bespoke designed vanity units with cascading planting , bespoke lockers and benches. The Exercise Studio and Spin Shed are accessed via a generous social relax/waiting area which offers beautiful country views. The Spin Shed is fitted with Technogym bikes and optimised for dynamic vitual-led classes.

Reflecting the client’s commitment to sustainability and as a node to The Grain Store’s humble origins, Sparcstudio specified a palette of upcycled and sustainable materials including eco paints with low VOC’s, clay based wall renders and corrugated iron for the walls. Counters and vanities are clad with ‘Foressa’ countertop surfaces formed from waste plaster and wood chips.

With a partnership forged over two decades ago, entrusting Sparcstudio once again to lead our wellness facilities into the future was not just a decision, but a natural progression. Their deep understanding of our brand, shared ethos, and their unmatched blend of expertise and creativity continue to shape spaces that transcend expectation, ensuring our guests and members experience unparalleled enjoyment and rejuvenation.
