Following the huge success of the award-winning spa at South Lodge, Sparcstudio were delighted to work with the Exclusive Collection team and Felce and Guy Architects once again.
Perfectly placed on the edge of the lake, the eight eco-lodges are double height sanctuaries with their own private decks cantilevered over the edge of the water.
Biophilic design principles have been used throughout to immerse guests in the restorative power of the surrounding landscape, whilst following sustainable construction processes, materials and finishes. Each lodge has its own steam shower and outdoor whirlpool bath. Lodge guests can enjoy wild swimming in the lake or a visit to the spa via a woodland trail.
The double height lounge space, featuring a three sided ‘virtual fireplace’, sits adjacent to a well-equipped kitchenette formed from grey and walnut washed timber, with inset natural cane paneling and Foressa countertops made from up-cycled waste.
The larger two larger ‘Spa Lodges’ are set back from the lakeside edge and offer a ‘place of paradise’ for couples. Intended to promote wellbeing, detoxification, sore muscle and joint pain relief, the Spa Lodges have bespoke designed infrared halotherapy saunas and on the external sun deck, a freestanding copper double ended whirlpool bath.
On the mezzanine, the bedrooms have full height glazing/balustrade along the mezzanine front. Each room is fitted with electronically operated curtains offering panoramic views of the lake and surrounding countryside. The centerpiece of the room is the large bed which is framed by a curved illuminated timber feature headboard and dressed with accent cushions and bespoke throws.
The bathrooms have a soothing ‘Spa like’ ambience with soft concealed lighting illuminating the subtle grey and amber textures of the tiled wall and floor surfaces. The bathrooms feature a two-person vanity area, a ‘state of the art’ Hans Grohe shower with green marble end walls and a sculptural double ended stone bath in which the guests have the option to watch a movie on the Aqua-vision screen.
Across the lodges there are two colour palettes: the fresh ‘Springtime’ palette with complimentary mossy greens and yellows and the warm ‘Autumnal’ palette of oranges, terracotta and red tones.
“We chose to work with Sparcstudio on this project because we absolutely loved the end result of The Spa at South Lodge and wanted the look and feel of ‘The Reeds’ to flow through from the spa. We are also about the little details of the customer journey and Sparcstudio are great at turning what we want into reality through those little details.
We are most proud of the ‘Sustainable luxury’ element. We wanted to deliver a truly luxurious experience but using sustainable materials at every point in the project.”
